remember that episode of the office where michael accidentally starts a rumor that stanley’s wife is having an affair, and so over the course of the day starts a dozen other obviously false rumors, so that no one will believe anything they’ve heard that day? that same scenario is happening in real life, to you and me and everyone, all day every day.
there was a time when having a photograph of something meant that it really happened. those days have been gone for a while now. more recently, there was a time when having video of something meant it really happened. now those days, too, are gone.
but it’s not quite accurate to say those days are ‘gone’ as if they naturally ended. no, the belief and trust in video evidence has been actively and intentionally destroyed, by the constant spreading of ever more believable and realistic fake videos. and before that, the trust in news was destroyed by the constant and intentional spreading of fake news stories.
not only does this benefit the liars by disguising their lies among a million other lies, it also mutes the truth-tellers. in a sea of fake videos, my real video can no longer be believed. in a cloud of wild conspiracy theories, no one will believe when you point to the real conspiracy happening in plain sight.
jeffrey epstein was arrested in june of 2019. in july of 2019 microsoft dumped one billion dollars into openai, transforming it from a small non-profit into the major leader in ai technology, in exchange for early access to its ai models. in the six years since then, more billions upon billions of dollars have been dumped into this ai technology. a technology that doesn’t seem to be able to actually make any money at all for its investors. but what it does make, is fake videos. It makes incredibly, shockingly realistic fake videos, more and more realistic every month. and these videos are everywhere, whether you realize it or not, constantly flooding our perception with lies.
the elite managed to hold off on the release of these files until now, and they spent that time building the technology to disguise their evil in a sea of lies. now, when the video evidence of their unspeakable crimes is finally released, they can easily say ‘it’s just ai! it’s fake!’
